“Out to Sea? The Plastic Garbage Project” produced by the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich will be seen for the first time in South America. The exhibition starts its tour in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay.

Uruguay is a small country with a long coastline of over 660 km over the Rio de la Plata and the South Atlantic. The country is internationally known as Uruguay Natural because of its huge extension of green grasslands, and native forest. However, the  coast is being affected by the presence of large amounts of plastic garbage in the sea, which impact the flora and fauna, as is the case with many other countries around the world. Another problem is that plastic has already entered the food chain.

It's really necessary to review our habits about plastic use.

The exhibition intends to inform and sensitize the population and motivate them to change their daily consumer behaviour. For this reason, we are focusing on educational programs for schools and adults. And we also want to launch sustainable projects.
